STAFF

Those, working with us in the summer, set the tone and are the heartbeat of the camp. The fun, love, cooperation and harmony that we share become contagious to all.

To work during Camp means to, together with a crew, take care of about 150-300 guests: to help with cooking, cleaning and serving, to attend to the tea-kitchen and the dish-washing facilities, to tend to the needs of the retreatants, to take care of the children, to run the bookshop and the sound- and recording system, to welcome the arriving guests, to register them and help them with their questions, to drive the bus and in general to look after the running of all that has been built in the previous weeks.

You have two possibilities to participate in the work during the camp, as a participant in the work-study program or by being a member of the staff.

Both the Work Camp and the Work Study Program require you to apply in advance! Please send us your Applications as soon as possible, especially if you want to help in the Work camp. Please don’t come without our prior approval, and apply as soon as possible! For more information and the application form please write to katharina: staff@zenithinstitute.com or read “Participation in Staff/Workstudy” on this website. You can also download the application form here.

Working as a member of the staff

As a staff member you have a time consuming and responsable job. It gives you the chance to dive intensively into the work process of the camp, and to be involved in co-creating your staff job in a constructive way. As a staff member you will, eventually together with other people, take over a certain working area and coordinate it.

The following guidelines apply for the Workstudy-program:

• Staff workers work full-time, about 6 hours a day (this can vary and depends on the kind of job). As a general rule staff member are at least there fore 2 weeks.

• The regularity of the work in the camp has a strong priority. In other words: The Camp and its program are not completely new to you, and/or the camp program is not the most important thing for you. Of course there might be free time left to participate in the seminars, but the job is more important and will take much of your time and your energy. As a staff member you will have more responsability than as participating in the workstudy program.

• Our working week starts Sunday morning and ends Saturday evening. The first Staff Meeting will take place on saturday evening 18:45 (6:45 pm) in the staff tent, immediately after dinner. Because most jobs start early on sunday morning, it's important that staff members arrive on saturday to get installed in the camp before work starts on Sunday! This is absolutely essential for a smooth workflow of all full staff workers in the camp.

• Depending on the working area, there will be further work meetings with the person who is responsible for your working area. (with Kirana, Majida, Ingo, Igor, Nirtan or Katharina). Where and when will be told at the general Staff Meeting Saturday 18:45. Please show up to register in the secretariat as soon as you are there!
• All full-time co-workers get a free day each week, which has to be taken in that same week.

• Full staff workers who bring their children have to pay for them the regular price, except when there have made special arrangements with us in advance.

• As staff members we will meet each other regulary, to share our experiences, to coordinate the different areas, to support each other energetically. Working in the staff can be an intense mode of being on a spiritual path, in which we have the chance to serve in something great like the camp, or to bring real existant situations and spiritual ideals of Sufism together in our work. We will have meetings of sharing on wednesday evening.
