Maturity: the Blooming of the Rosebud
A creative - contemplative journey through life for men and women from 45 years up
with Musawira Brüning
July 21st – July 26th

Hazrat Inayat Khan likens the flowering rose with the unfoldment of the soul towards love, harmony and beauty. Before the rose exudes her fragrance the soil has to be prepared: «For the rosebud to bloom, five conditions are required: fertile soil, bright sun, water, air, and space, and the same five things are required for the unfoldment of the soul» (Hazrat Inayat Khan) The fertile soil symbolizes the spiritual ideal, the bright sun intelligence, water is love, air the inspired heart and space the wide outlook on life. In the course of our lives the sleeping God or Goodness in us reveal themselves through archetypes which could be linked to the four elements.

The moment of full blooming in Life is a time of maturity with a sense of abundance, joy, and freedom, and also represents a loss. Within the plenitude of summer, autumn may be forgotten, yet it exists, bringing about the lesson of transformation. Nature throughout the seasons teaches us about becoming and unbecoming. The Sufi Teachings invite «to die before death and to resurrect now». According to our personality, there is a moment when we really become aware that we are getting older, and that marks the threshold of a whole period of letting go of conceptions and assessments. Listening to the call of the season opens us to a new understanding and unites us on a deeper level with our inner truth. If at that time in life we get trapped by identifying with our physical body, the future seems to be become more and more confined and narrow.

To hear the call of life’s season and to abandon ourselves to its inner dynamics will help new visions and energies to emerge. This is what we will experience in our shared journey throughout the week. We will meditate, dance and laugh together. We’ll travel by means of creative imagination. In the evenings we celebrate the sacredness of life and join in the Dhik’r.
